Runs: Wednesday evenings 6.00pm-8.00pm for eight sessions + one or two extra sessions for exhibition organisation

If Photocourses 1 and 2 can be said to deal with how to photograph, then Photocourse 3 is about what to photograph, and what to do with the results. Although we will spend some time addressing technical issues, the course is directed towards you developing a creative idea through several stages to the point of having finished works to exhibit.

We will be aiming for a group exhibition of photographs, to be held at a suitable venue in Wellington. We will help you, as a group, to organise, market, curate and hang the exhibition, to give you the full experience of carrying a creative project through to final resolution. This is a unique opportunity that can seldom be found outside of full-time tertiary study.

place when the reserved list builds up.

Preferably, you will be working with your own 35mm Single Lens Reflex
or medium format camera, or digital SLR. You will also have access to the darkroom and studio during the course.

Course fee: The cost of the programme is $650.00 including GST.

You will need to pay for your own film & processing and printing for project work. Costs relating to the group exhibition are not covered by the course fee.

To confirm your booking, a deposit of $250.00 is required. This is non-returnable, except in the event of the course being cancelled or postponed. A minimum number of participants is required for the course to proceed.

Your Tutors:

Mark Marriott has 20+ years experience in photography, and a
Certificate of Professional Photography from Wellington Polytechnic
(1987). Mark currently teaches photography at Inverlochy Art School,
and works as a freelance professional photographer.

James Gilberd has 20+ years experience in photography, as a
professional and in retail. He has a Certificate of Professional Photography
from Wellington Polytechnic (1987), and a Bachelor of Design degree
(photography major) from Victoria University (1996). James currently
owns and runs Photospace.
