The Strange Occurrences paranormal investigation team, based in Wellington New Zealand, was established in 2005.

This photo was taken during our first investigation of the Wellington Museum of City & Sea, 1/8/09. We all moved away after 5 or 6 seconds of the 10 second exposure.

"But at the last, what do we know?" - Arthur Machen.

We all have lifelong interest in the paranormal, in history and older buildings. None of us claims to be psychic or has the skills of a medium, but - like many people - we have each experienced things that are difficult to explain with current science. We understand and respect scientific method, and take the position that nothing in the world is absolutely proven; we just work with the best available theory until a better one comes along. We are all naturally curious, sceptical rather than credulous, and open minded to phenomena that lie beyond or outside current understanding.

Expanding the Team

While we are not looking to spread beyond Wellington and we already have enough investigators, we would be interested in maybe getting a videographer on board, and also someone with a strong background in psychology. There is already a range of science and arts degrees in the makeup, including a Ph.D. We are a friendly, easy going group in the age range of late 20s to late 40s. A sense of humour is essential.

"Who am I?
As a bird I fly about
Seeing things, partaking of things.
Let my heart be delighted with them."

- Aztec poem.

Once we began to get enquiries for our services we dropped the pseudonyms.

The photo above was taken in a place that no longer exists, as it now has a motorway offramp going through it.
