NEWS: the Dixon St photographic studio is no longer available, due to expriry of the lease. I have set up a new studio at Photospace, 37 Courtenay Place. This is now available for hire.

The new studio, while smaller, is good for portraiture, headshots, and small-scale product photography.

With lower overheads, hire rates have been reduced (see below).

Equipment available, all included in hire fee:

• Bowens flash units, various Monolights and Quad packs
• Softboxes, Bowens Wafer
• Range of reflector bowls up to 18", snoot
• Various umbrellas; white, silver, gold, translucent, opaque
• Various reflectors, etc
• Range of 2.7m wide background papers
• Lightstands, 1 lightweight boom, camera tripods
• Flash meter
• Radio trigger units, slave cells, sync cords
• Daylight shooting by south-facing window light possible
• No specialised video/film lights available, sorry

Studio hire rates (from October 2011):

• These rates include use of equipment listed above.
• Minimum booking - $60.00 + GST (up to an hour)
• 2 hours (or so) - $90.00 + GST
• Half day - $150.00 + GST (up to 4 hrs)
• Full day - $250.00 + GST (up to 8 hrs)
• Longer periods of use - POA
• No bare room rate, sorry
• Some bookings may require a non-refundable deposit
• Conditions of hireage and usage apply. We reserve the right to refuse to hire.

Please note: Colorama paper backgrounds are expensive, so if you require a clean area of background paper for models to walk around on, it will be charged for at relacement cost per metre of used paper. This would usually mean an additional cost of $30 per metre, depending on extent of footmarks and damage.

Sorry, we do not hire cameras. Studio lighting equipment is not available for hire for use outside the studio. Wellington Photographic Supplies have some cameras and other equipment for hire.
