The studio is not manned except during photo shoots, so you will need to
contact James Gilberd, who is based at Photospace Gallery, 37 Courtenay Place, five minutes walk away.

Unlike most studio hire facilities, there is no extra charge for using any of the equipment in the room. The standard hire fee covers everything and is very reasonable. The only extra charge would be for clean papae rbackground to walk on and mess up, which attracts a per-meter charge.

The Dixon St Studio is available for hire for stills photography and video shoots:

• Vibrant central Wellington CBD location, good light & views
• Studio is approx. 11m x 7m with 3.5m ceiling - see layout below
• 2nd floor, with lift. Loading zone directly outside entrance + some parallel parking. No reserved parking, sorry.
• Assistance with initial setup is free, additional assistance available
• Available for hire 24 hours 7 days
• No extra charges for use of any equipment, bare room rate available
• Ideal for casting, fashion, hairdressing, portraiture, wedding group & product range shoots, stills photography or video

• 2 Softboxes, 1.2m x 0.8m, 1.2m x 1.0m, 1x Bowens Wafer
• 1.5KWs focussing spotlight
• Range of reflector bowls up to 18", snoot

• Range of Colorama and Savage background papers, 2.4m wide
• Auto poles x6
• Lightstands, 1 lightweight boom
• Camera tripods
• Sekonic flash meter
• IR and radio trigger units, slave cells, sync cords
• Also some old school Photoflood lights, incl large beauty dish
• No specialised video/film lights available, sorry

There is a lounge area, make up table and changing room.
There is a small fridge and a sink but not a full kitchen.

STUDIO HIRE RATES (updated September 2010):

• These rates include use of equipment listed above
• Minimum booking - $90.00 + GST (up to an hour)
• 2 hours - $150.00 + GST
• Half day - $230.00 + GST (3 to 4 hrs)
• Full day - $350.00 + GST (5 to 8 hrs)
• Longer periods of use - POA
• Bare room rates available, POA
• Available 24/7 but extra charge may apply for late night access
• Saturday bookings may require a non-refundable deposit
• Conditions of hireage and usage apply. We reserve the right to refuse to hire.

Please note: Colorama backgrounds are expensive, so if you require a clean area of background paper for models to walk around on, it will be charged for at relacement cost per metre of used paper. This would usually mean an additional cost of $30-$60, depending on extent of footmarks and damage.

Rubbish removal: taking your own rubbish away after a shoot is greatly appreciated. Please leave the studio clean.

Sorry, we do not hire cameras. Studio equipment is not generally available for hire for use outside the studio. Wellington Photographic Supplies have some cameras and other equipment for hire.
