Photospace studio - wedding photography
It's like this...
In order to maintain my creative energy and passion for wedding photography, I've made a decision to cut things back a bit. I've always
enjoyed photographing weddings; each one is special and I want to keep it that way, so I'm restricting myself to a small number of weddings per year now.
While I use digital cameras for commercial photography (have done since 1999), I'm sticking with film for wedding photography, preferably black and white film.
This is more to do with creative satisfaction than absolute quality; I acknowledge digital cameras are incredibly good now. Music CDs are good too, but many
music and hi-fi connoisseurs prefer vinyl records and valve amplifiers. Same thinking.
Recently I have returned to hand-processing the films and hand-developing the prints in the darkroom here. My wife Denise has been making hand-bound
albums. We have had fantastic responses from couples receiving these albums, and creating them is is hugely satisfying.
With the vast majority of photographers now working exclusively with digital cameras and digital printing methods, (I'm not knocking this practise)
I thought it would be nice to offer something different, unique, hand-made and very special.
No one else I'm aware of is offering this type of wedding photography and album.
Sounds expensive? Well, it doesn't have to be. If you're interested get in touch, come in and talk about your wedding,
your photography budget, what you'd like to have happen, and I'll give you an estimate. It doesn't have to be for the mother of all weddings; I enjoy
photographing more intimate family-and-close-friends weddings and can price things accordingly.
When two photographers are needed, I work with Mark Marriott. He has a high level of talent and committment to quality photography in the classic
style, and we have worked as a team photographing many weddings, often with me shooting colour film and Mark shooting B&W.
Because this is a unique wedding photography service, I'm quite happy to shoot anywhere in New Zealand. It's a great way to see the country.
OK, long spiel - sorry, too much coffee. Some photos from a few different weddings are shown below. Also happy for you to look at some weddings
photographed
a while ago - there's more colour but things haven't changed too much.
